What to expect when filing a claim
What to expect when you file an insurance claim.
Auto Claims
- Report Your Claim: When a loss happens, it’s best to report your claim as soon as possible. You can contact your agent to file a claim on your behalf, submit your claim directly by contacting us at 800-234-4433, or report it online.
- Speak With Your Adjuster: Once the claim has been submitted, it will be assigned to a claims adjuster who will contact you within one business day to confirm the facts of the loss and explain your coverages.
- Determine the Damages: Depending on the damages to your vehicle, your adjuster may offer our photo-based estimating process or request that you obtain an estimate from your auto repair shop of choice. If you don’t have a particular repair shop in mind, you can search our auto direct repair network to find a shop near you. For some types of damage, we may need to schedule an appraiser to inspect your vehicle in person.
- Finalizing the Claim: Once the repair estimate has been reviewed and approved, you will be notified and may proceed with scheduling the repairs at your shop of choice. Your adjuster will issue payment to you and/or the repair shop, less any applicable deductible. If your vehicle is determined to be a total loss, be sure to collect your personal belongings and the license plate as soon as possible. Your adjuster will work with you and any lienholder (if applicable) to make the insurance payout for the totaled vehicle.
