This September, use Boomer’s realLIFEstory to get the word out about the importance of life insurance.

You may know Boomer Esiason as a record-setting NFL quarterback, or maybe from his on-target commentary on network TV’s The NFL Today. But this September, he’ll also be playing for “Team Life Insurance” as the spokesperson for Life Insurance Awareness Month (LIAM).

What many people don’t know is when he was just 7, Boomer’s mother, Irene, died of cancer. That left Boomer, his father and his two teenage sisters to create a life for themselves. A three-hour daily commute to work in New York City left Boomer’s father, Norman, with little free time, but he always made sure he supported Boomer, both on and off the field.

“We were very lucky we had neighbors who could help out and make sure I got something to eat and was being looked after while my dad was at work,” said Boomer. “We lived paycheck to paycheck, but my dad was completely unselfish and did an incredible job taking care of our family. He taught me what it means to be a responsible dad.”     

Protection in Place

As soon as he got drafted in the NFL, Boomer made sure he got plenty of life insurance coverage. And as his family has grown to include his wife, Cheryl, and their children, Sydney and Gunnar, his life insurance coverage as grown as well. “I have to be able to put my head on my pillow each night knowing I’ve fulfilled my responsibility to make sure my family will always be taken care of.”

In September, Boomer will be addressing the American public through TV and radio public service announcements to get them thinking about the need to protect their loved ones with life insurance. Our job, then, will be to reach out to clients and prospects to help them put that coverage in place.
