Frankenmuth Insurance would like to make our agency partners aware of an upcoming change to the Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association’s (MCAA) per insured vehicle charge. After releasing updated assessment figures for the 2017/2018 fiscal cycle, the MCCA announced that the per insured vehicle charge will increase from $162 to $172 effective July 1, 2017. Vehicles with historical plates will continue to be charged 20% of this rate.
As outlined in the Michigan Insurance Code, insurers are required to retain a portion of the losses under the Personal Protection insurance coverages. The company retention level will also increase from $545,000 to $555,000 for policies issued between July 1, 2017, and June 30, 2019.
Should you or your staff have any questions, please consult your Personal Lines field manager or underwriter. Thank you for your continued support of Frankenmuth Insurance. We appreciate all you do for us.
