Among our most important priorities at Frankenmuth Insurance is to provide outstanding service to the Agents and Policyholders we serve. As part of that ongoing goal, we are providing you with this quick reference bulletin on a NEW OSHA requirement that will have an impact on your clients.
The OSHA requirements for reporting severe injuries and record-keeping requirements have been updated effective Jan 1st 2015.
The new OSHA changes will require employers to file a detailed report within eight hours of a fatal workplace accident. Furthermore, severe on-the-job injuries that do not result in death but require hospitalization must be reported within 24 hours. A report must be filed regardless of the size of the business.
The new 24-hour reporting requirement includes all work-related hospitalizations, amputations or loss of an eye. All employers, including those partially exempted by reason of company size or industry classification will be required to comply with the new severe injury and illness reporting requirements.
