Frankenmuth Insurance would like to announce that after 38½ years of dedicated service to the company, Jami Kelly is retiring on December 31, 2019.
Jami began her career at Frankenmuth Insurance on May 4, 1981, as a Commercial Lines Underwriter after working in an insurance agency for three years. She was promoted to Senior Commercial Lines Underwriter in January 1985, Commercial Lines Underwriting Supervisor in May 1987, Underwriting Manager in August 1993, Commercial Lines Manager in 1998, Director of Michigan Commercial Lines Underwriting and Services in December 2000, Commercial Lines Great Lakes Region Director in December 2011, and Vice President in July 2013. She also serves as Vice President of Ansur America Insurance Company, Fortuity Insurance Company, ASure Worldwide Insurance Company and Patriot Life Insurance Company. In addition, Jami serves on the Executive Committee of Frankenmuth Insurance and its five subsidiary companies.
Jami’s executive responsibilities include Commercial Lines Insurance Operations, as well as Commercial Lines Underwriting and Services for the Michigan, Midwest and Southeast Regions. Under her leadership, Commercial Lines has consistently been very profitable for the company. She has also been responsible for corporate insurance and is an active member of the Reinsurance Committee and the Guidewire initiative.
Throughout her career, Jami has been extensively involved in insurance industry activities. She served on the Board of Governors of the Michigan Basic Property Insurance Association for 21 years, with two terms as Chair, and she was recently honored by the MBPIA with a Resolution of Appreciation for her service to the organization. She is also a member of the Northeastern Michigan Chapter of the CPCU Society. Her civic involvement includes the Frankenmuth Noon Rotary Club, the Great Lakes Bay Region Red Cross and the Frankenmuth Chamber of Commerce where she served as a member of the Board of Directors. Jami was recently highlighted in Great Lakes Bay Business magazine as an “Insurance Executive Committed to Helping People.”
Jami holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from DePauw University with a Sociology major and a Business minor, and she has always been an advocate of continuing education, evidenced by the fact that she has earned the following professional insurance designations: Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Reinsurance (ARe), Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU), Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC). In addition to her own continuing education, she has encouraged and mentored many others to do the same.
