The State of Michigan is implementing a new computer system called CARS (Customer Automotive Records System), which will prevent access to motor vehicle records next week.

The system downtime period begins Thursday, March 11 at 5 p.m. and continues through Monday, March 15 at midnight. During this timeframe, access to interactive and batch motor vehicle records will be unavailable. Additionally, transactions such as new submissions, renewals, and policy changes will receive error messages when issuance is initiated.
