Frankenmuth Insurance has recently completed an extensive review of its Cancellation and Non-Renewal Notices and Procedures. Based on this review, we have made form revisions to comply with current statutes along with editorial revisions for consistency between our states and lines of business. We have also updated internal procedures to help improve efficiency. These changes are effective for policies that are cancelled or non-renewed on or after April 1, 2013.
Along with numerous form revisions, your policyholders will no longer be receiving copies of 80587, If Your Automobile Insurance Has Been Cancelled – You Have The Right To Appeal and 80588, If Your Homeowners Insurance Has Been Cancelled – You Have The Right To Appeal. The policyholder will still have the right to a managerial level conference however they will need to request this conference by either calling or writing for this request to our Consumer Assistance Division; our PL Underwriting area will be responding to any inquiries.
In the past, you as an Agent may have sent out your own Cancellation Notices for Non-Payment. At this time, Frankenmuth will not be allowing you to continue this practice. The Cancellation Notices sent to your policyholders need to be filed with various Insurance Departments, and they also must have required statutory verbiage. If you have a policy that needs to be cancelled due to non-payment, you must contact your PL Underwriter to process the request through our system. The date on the Cancellation Notice mailed from Frankenmuth will be the cancellation date of the policy.
If you have any questions, please contact your PL Underwriter or me.
