Frankenmuth Insurance wants to help you preserve the discounted MCCA assessments available to your Antique Automobile customers.

As part of Michigan’s MCCA requirements, a vehicle properly registered as Historic or Authentic is charged only 20% of the current MCCA fee compared to those registered as Private Passenger Vehicle Types.

The current MCCA charge for private passenger autos is $178 per vehicle, and for properly registered historic or authentic vehicles it drops to $36 – a savings of $142.

NEW BUSINESS:  For new business placed through iBIS and effective 1/1/13 or later, the following question will be asked: “Does this vehicle have a historic or authentic plate registered with the Michigan Secretary of State?”  If the answer is YES, you will need to submit a photo of the plate or a copy of the registration to Underwriting. You may easily do so by attaching these files in iBIS. If sufficient proof is not provided, the full MCCA fee will be charged as of the inception date of the policy.

RENEWAL BUSINESS:  Within the next week, we will be mailing a packet of information to all policyholders whose vehicles do not have historical or authentic plate registration. A copy of this packet is viewable within the pdf file below. The mailer includes a Historic Plate application taken from the Michigan Secretary of State. Under a separate mailing, we have sent a listing of your agency’s antique policyholders to your agency principal. Beginning with renewals effective 1/1/13, sufficient proof will need to be provided to retain the discounted MCCA fee. Otherwise, the full MCCA fee will apply.

MID-TERM ENDORSEMENT CHANGES:  If proof is provided prior to a policy effective date of 1/1/13, please contact your Personal Lines Underwriter so the system indicator is updated and the MCCA discount is preserved on the renewal documents.
