Heard of Pandora? Our best guess is yes. And, so have more than 78 million monthly listeners. Established in 2000, Pandora now reaches a quarter of the U.S. population across 1,800 connected devices.

On this audio platform, listeners hear their favorite songs, interviews with their favorite artists and ads from their favorite brands.

To sum it up: Pandora is pretty powerful.

Precisely targeted to reach the people most relevant to you, Pandora observes more than 1 billion data points every day — all to ensure your ads meet those who matter.

Whether you have existing assets, are eager to create new ones, or want to take advantage of our co-op advertising opportunities, you can choose from ad units like:

Pandora Audio

  • Seamlessly weave a :15 or :30 second ad into a user’s listening experience. Give visual support to your message with a companion banner, which is included in your buy. It will display while your spot plays, so listeners can click through to your website.
Pandora Video
  • Stand out with a full-screen experience. Users only receive a video ad when they skip a song or change a station. This way, you have their attention during a natural break.

Pandora Display

  • Keep your brand top of mind with a banner ad.
  • Make it easy for consumers to contact you. Pandora’s “Tap to Call” ad features a “call now” button that, when pressed, will automatically place a call to a pre-designated number.
  • Take over the top of a user’s Pandora page with a virtual “billboard.”
  • Take over a user’s entire Pandora page with a branded background. Aside from Pandora’s tuner, you’ll own all the real estate on the page.
  • Put yourself front and center when someone opens Pandora. Run a full-screen ad, called a Mobile Welcome Interstitial, that appears when the app is launched on iPhone and Android.
  • Incentivize listeners to interact with your ads. With Pandora’s “Shake to Reveal,” users shake their phone and then reveal additional branded content, like an image or a video.

Pandora Brand Stations

  • Create a custom Pandora station, and you’ll own all the ad space within it. You can even host a station that plays songs your listeners submit.

One other thing to note? Pandora’s not the only one offering an optimal audio ad experience. In 2006, Spotify started their streaming site, and so far, it’s been just as successful. Here, advertisers can experiment with similar types of advertising units, like:

Spotify Audio

  • Serve a :15 or :30 audio ad to your exact audience. You’ll even get a small visual to accompany it.

Spotify Display

  • Appeal to listeners with a display ad that’s clickable for 30 seconds. During this time, no other ad will be shown. And it will only run when Spotify is on screen. If the platform is minimized on desktop (where this unit is available), no one’s looking — which means no ad will run.
  • Welcome your listeners to Spotify with an ad that can’t be missed. When guests return, they’ll get an overlay ad that appears for two seconds, then turns into a display ad that will stay.
  • Dominate for a full day. With a homepage takeover, you’ll get a combination of a background skin and an interactive area within Spotify.

Spotify Video

  • Run a :15 or :30 second video, and you’ll get a companion display unit to make your message go further. It will be served almost as a “commercial break” between songs in a music session. And best of all? You’ll only pay when someone watches the video in its entirety. (Note: This is currently available on desktop only.)

Spotify Branded Moments

  • “The next 30 minutes are ad free, thanks to the following sponsor.” Which could be you. Reach your audience right when they open Spotify with a video ad before their audio experience.

Spotify Sponsored Session

  • Somewhere in the middle of their session, offer your audience uninterrupted listening in exchange for a video view. Users will hear a message that says, “Watch this short video to receive 30 minutes of ad-free music.”

Still listening? If you’ve made it this far, you know how many different options there are to advertise on Pandora and Spotify — two of the most popular audio streaming sites.

Is every unit right for your agency? Probably not. But is there a unit that’s perfect for you? Probably.
