A key component of audit processing is classification of the risk.  Classification changes at audit can impact the final premium and your agency’s profitability.   To assist you, we have provided these helpful tools to assigning classification.

Key points when code 5437 Carpentry – Interior would apply:

1.    Installation of cabinetry work, interior trim and interior doors.

2.    Wood floor installation (final flooring material), sanding, repair and finishing wood floors.

3.    Interior wood stairs and paneling.

4.    Weather stripping and lock installation (new buildings).

 

Key points when code 5437  Carpentry – Interior would not apply:

1.    The payroll of an employee may be divided between codes (except no payroll division classes) provided the employer maintains proper payroll records. An estimate or percentage is not permitted .  Otherwise, the exposure will be placed in the higher rated applicable classification.

2.    Woodworking shop exposures are separately classed.

Key points when code 5645 Carpentry – Detached would apply:

1.    Carpentry operations in the construction, repair, remodeling or demolition one or two family homes.

2.    Constructing garages in connection with homes/dwellings. 

3.    Construction of wood and vinyl fences.

4.    Installation of windows, doors, decks and siding.

Key points when code 5645 Carpentry – Detached would not apply:

1.    Construction work on any home over 3-stories in height.

2.    Installation of roofing material.

3.    Construction work on commercial/industrial sites.
