Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association (MCCA) surplus refunds to eligible personal and commercial auto policyholders are going in the mail this month.
The MCCA released funds to insurance carriers, including Frankenmuth Insurance, on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, with settlement to our company’s account expected by Monday, March 14, 2022.
All refunds will be issued in the form of mailed checks. We will begin mailing checks on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, and expect to have all refunds mailed no later than Thursday, March 31, 2022. Delivery to policyholders will vary based on U.S. Postal Service delivery schedules.
The refund will be $400 per insured motor vehicle and $80 per historic vehicle. This refund is provided for eligible commercial and personal vehicles on policies that met the minimum insurance requirements for operating a vehicle on Michigan roads. There is no action that your customers need to take to receive this refund.
To help your agency respond to customer inquiries related to auto refunds, we have developed a feature in iBIS Agency Services, which allows you to view a customer’s refund information, including eligible vehicles, the status, and amount. This can be accessed from the Policy Search and can be found on the Policy Information page under Policy Actions, by selecting the MCCA Refund option.
