According to a recent report from the Army Corps of Engineers, water levels on Lakes Huron and Michigan are dropping at alarming rates. 

Keith Kompoltowicz, chief of watershed hydrology in the Detroit office of the corps, said “given the extreme dry conditions, there is potential that we would set record lows” on the two lakes within the next several months.

Boaters beware!

All of the Great Lakes and Lake St. Clair are projected to be below their long-term averages during the next six months.

And, the National Weather Service indicates precipitation during the next six months is expected to range from below normal to near normal.

Those worried about future water levels can take some solace in the historical record.  Following the record lows of 1964 and 1965, the levels rebounded to record highs in 1974 and 1975 and again in 1986.

Frankenmuth Yacht premiums are directly correlated to the lenght of individual policy layup and launch dates.  Premium adjustments can be made for those individual yacht policyholders who wish to remove the navigational coverages at an earlier date than stated on the policy.
