Frankenmuth Insurance is pleased to announce the launch of Cyber Plus on March 1, 2014.
Cyber Plus gives 8 “must have” coverages. To help you navigate the form, each week a blog will focus on a different coverage.
Multimedia Liability Coverage
Under current laws, any business with a public website is subject to the same legal responsibilities as a traditional publisher. Are your clients prepared to navigate the waters of intellectual property laws?
Multimedia liability coverage protects your insureds from personal injury offenses in the following ways:
-
Extends to media posted on an insured’s website as well as non-electronic media
-
Includes coverage for claims of invasion or infringement of rights to privacy
-
Extends to copyright, trade mark, plagiarism or domain name infringement
Claims example: An electronics store specializing in state of the art home theater components and installation downloads video streams featuring home theater products onto its website. Customers are able to view the videos when visiting the store’s web address. Some of the content was rights-protected and owned by a third-party that did not authorize the use of video stream by the store. The electronics store is liable to the content owner for alleged copyright infringement and trademark infringement.
Next week’s installment will highlight Security and Privacy Liability Coverages. We hope you’ll agree, Cyber Plus from Frankenmuth Insurance far exceeds coverages currently available on the standard market.
